CNGM Updates

Year 5, the final year for CNGM

The Gender Qualification component of the CNGM project is now focused on its preparation for the summing-up this June 25-30, 2007. There are two other activities that needs to will be undertaken related to the Gender Qualification component: 1) Validation of the Gender Audit Process Workshop Result for PAILIG and SIMCARRD. Finally, we are also finalizing the Training of Trainers Module and Tool Kit on "Redefining Masculinities" which will be presented on the last day of the conference.

Capability Building component of  CNGM focuses on developing modules and conducting training about commonly identified needs by Bread for the World Partners.  The last 6 months of the Capability Building-CNGM of the Extension Phase is focused on conducting the last two remaining common trainings for the Bread of the World partners.

The manual on the Rights-Based Approach to Gender Mainstreaming was developed by Wise Act with the help of individuals , from BftW organizations, Elvie Quintela of AFRIM and Cliff Alvarico of KFI, as part of the technology transfer.   On January 24 and 25, 2007,  the module was pre-tested with SIMCARRD.  Comments and suggestions derived form the pre-test are incorporated in the manual which is now undergoing the editng stage.

Another module being prepared is the Training of Trainers of Gender, Violence against Woman and Human Rights which will be used in one more training to be held by May 2007.

In line with technology transfer, the series of workshops on integration of HIV and AIDS in Programs and Plans produced two other trainers, Nini Balaquio of ZOTO and Ninfa Abad of KAPPAG.

Documentation, Communication and Information Component continues to develop the Practical Toolkit on Gender Mainstreaming along the themes of Human Rights, Violence Against Women, Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, Indigenous Peoples, Urban Development and Micro Finance.
